The famed Laxman Jula bridge of Rishikesh,  featured in original photographs of the Beatles in Rishikesh,  has now closed and a new bridge with a Beatles’ link has opened.

Crossing the Ganges from the Kailash Gate area to the Maharaji Mahesh Yogi ashram,  also called the Beatles’ Ashram, the Janki Setu bridge provides another crossing point for both pedestrians and motor cycle users.

The bridge was being painted during my stay in Rishikesh,  portraying a decidedly Hindu spiritual narrative.  It was a focus of attraction for Sadhus,  whose ashram was close by.
